What an AI content system actually is

Not "AI writes your content for you." A production pipeline where AI accelerates research, drafting, and variation work — and humans do the judgment work that determines whether the content is useful, accurate, and citable. The result is materially higher output of pure-human production at quality that's indistinguishable from senior writing.

Marketing MIX, an international marketing studio with Ukrainian roots, headquartered in Ottawa and working across Canada, Ukraine, Germany, and France, has built AI content systems for SaaS, professional services, e-commerce, and education clients since 2024. The systems below reflect what we've watched produce real business outcomes.

The four-stage pipeline

Stage 1: Brief

A senior strategist writes a brief: the topic, the angle, the audience, the claim, the evidence to include, the structure, the SEO target queries, the entity-binding requirements. Briefs are the most important step; they're done by humans.

Stage 2: AI draft

Claude (most often), GPT-5, or Gemini drafts from the brief. We use specific prompt engineering with chain-of-thought, structured outputs (where applicable), and citation requirements built in. The AI produces a draft in 5–15 minutes.

Stage 3: Senior edit

A senior editor restructures, fact-checks, rewrites passages, adds expertise the AI couldn't supply, ensures voice consistency. Takes 60–180 minutes per long-form piece, 10–30 minutes per shorter piece. This is the load-bearing stage.

Stage 4: Subject-matter review

For technical, regulated, or specialist topics — the relevant expert reads and corrects. Sometimes the client's internal team; sometimes a paid external reviewer.

The pipeline ships content that's better than pure-human production (because the AI catches structural and completeness issues humans miss) and better than pure-AI production (because the human stages catch hallucinations and add expertise).

What we build

  • Brief templates per content type (pillar page, comparison article, glossary term, FAQ, case study, technical guide).
  • AI prompting playbooks with chain-of-thought patterns, schema requirements, and citation-format specifications.
  • Editorial standards that codify the brand voice, evidence requirements, and quality gates.
  • Publishing pipeline with CMS integration, schema validation, and IndexNow submission.
  • Quality tracking — citation count, organic traffic per piece, AI-mention frequency, time-on-page.

What we won't do

  • Build systems targeting hundreds of pieces per month per topic. That's the spam-at-scale model that fails.
  • Skip the human-editing stage to lower costs. The cost saving destroys the quality differential.
  • Use AI to write content that should require professional sign-off (medical claims, legal advice, financial recommendations).
  • Hide AI involvement from clients. Transparency about the pipeline is part of the deliverable.

Pricing

A clearly scoped audit starts at €1,800. Ongoing retainers start at €2,400 per month. Larger projects are quoted after scope is agreed.
