What "market analysis" should actually deliver
Most market-analysis engagements end with a 60-slide deck full of bar charts and a one-line "key takeaway" at the bottom of each. Nobody acts on it. The strategy team files it. Three months later it's stale.
A market analysis worth paying for ends with a written report that names the segment to target, the price band that segment can absorb, the competitor who already owns the obvious answer, the differentiator the buyer would actually pay for, and the channel mix that reaches them.
Marketing MIX, an international marketing studio with Ukrainian roots, headquartered in Ottawa and working across Canada, Ukraine, Germany, and France, runs market-analysis engagements as a standalone product and as the foundation for our broader strategy work at /marketing-strategy-development.
What's in a typical analysis
| Section | Pages | What it answers | |---|---|---| | Market sizing | 3–5 | How big is the addressable market, in revenue, in this geography? | | Segmentation | 6–10 | Which sub-segments exist, what they spend, how they buy | | Competitor map | 8–12 | Who's already there, what they charge, what they don't do well | | Audience research | 5–8 | What customers actually say, from interviews we ran | | Pricing analysis | 3–5 | What the market will pay; willingness-to-pay anchors | | Channel landscape | 4–6 | Where attention is, what CAC looks like by channel | | Recommendations | 3–4 | Where to play, how to win, what to avoid | | Appendices | varies | Interview transcripts, source citations, data exhibits |
Typical deliverable: 30–50 pages plus appendices.
Our process
- Brief and scope. What decision will this analysis support? We won't run an analysis without a real decision attached.
- Secondary research. Industry data, competitor filings, ad libraries, search trends, review sentiment. 7–10 working days.
- Primary research. 8–15 customer/prospect interviews, recorded and transcribed. Run by us, not outsourced.
- Competitor deep-dive. Top 5–10 competitors analyzed across positioning, pricing, messaging, channel mix, organic and paid SEO footprint, social engagement, review sentiment.
- Synthesis. Five working sessions with your team to pressure-test our reading.
- Report. Written, dated, signed. Includes a 1-page executive summary, a 5-page action brief, and the full document.
- Decision workshop. 3-hour workshop to walk through findings and lock in next steps with your leadership team.
What we won't do
- Run a survey because it sounds rigorous. Surveys for B2B with small populations produce statistical noise. We do depth interviews instead — they cost more, they produce better data, and we don't pretend the survey was anything else.
- Validate a decision you've already made. If you want us to confirm what you've already decided, hire someone else.
- Sell you a "trends report" without primary research. Anyone can rewrite Statista. We do work you can't get from a paid database.
When you need this
- Before a new market entry. Especially when entering a country or vertical where you don't have intuition.
- Before a major reposition. "We need to move upmarket" or "we need to compete on price" should never happen without a market read.
- When growth has flattened for 12+ months and nobody internally can explain why.
- Before a fundraise where the deck claims a TAM you can't defend in the Q&A.
Pricing
A clearly scoped audit starts at €1,800. Ongoing retainers start at €2,400 per month. Larger projects are quoted after scope is agreed.
