The brief
Cookiddoo runs hands-on cooking and baking classes for children aged 4 to 15 at a working cooking studio in Kanata, in Ottawa's west end. Classes are two-hour drop-off sessions for groups of up to ten: chefs guide, and the children do the cooking themselves. The programme covers master classes, culinary courses, weekly workshops, a Junior Chef course, birthday parties, camps, programmes for schools and daycares, and catering.
This is a project the Marketing MIX team launched from scratch together with its founder, a young Ukrainian who moved to Canada. She was seventeen when it started. At the outset there was an idea for kids cooking classes, with no local customer base and no known brand. Work began in September 2024 with competitor research. The domain was registered in November, and the first public events, Christmas workshops, took place in December 2024. In July 2026 Cookiddoo appeared on CTV Ottawa's morning show.
Parents search locally for classes and party ideas, and more of them now ask AI assistants. Camps for March Break and summer are planned months ahead. In Canada's capital region families expect service in English and French, and schools and daycares book field trips and after-school programmes directly.
What we did
Market research and positioning
Competitor research, a study of the Canadian market, audience analysis, positioning and the product line of programmes. On that basis, a promotion strategy with audience segments, ad hypotheses and scaling stages.
Website in four languages
cookiddoo.com in English, French, Russian and Ukrainian, built on MODX: programme pages, registration, parties and events, school programmes, a shop with gift certificates and a blog. The site is adapted for mobile.
Ad creatives
The founder already had photos and video from her classes. We edited that footage into a series of ad videos for Facebook and Instagram, built around the cooking process, the children at work and the atmosphere of the sessions.
Meta advertising and community promotion
Campaigns in Meta tested different audiences, ad formats and messages, and were optimised as statistics came in. In parallel, the project was promoted in local community groups.
SEO, analytics and AI search
Ongoing work on local search for Ottawa and Kanata: a section of Ottawa guides, a baking classes page, FAQ structured data, an llms.txt file for AI assistants and redirects from old URLs. Key events are tracked in Google Analytics 4.
Where it stands today
On 14 September 2026 cookiddoo.com is live, and its footer still carries "Development and support" with a link to mmix.ua.
The Internet Archive shows how the site grew with the business. In January 2025 it was a one-page English site with a class schedule, individual-class requests and a gift-certificate form. By February 2026 it had become a four-language site with a master-class calendar, party and off-site services, a shop, a franchise page and a blog. Today's version is organised around what parents search for: the title reads "Kids Cooking & Baking Classes in Ottawa (Kanata) — Cookiddoo School", and the menu is split into Classes, Parties & Events, Schools and Daycares, Camps, the shop and Franchise.
The offer now spans master classes, a multi-week culinary course, weekly workshops, summer, March Break and PD-day camps, birthday parties in the studio and off-site, school field trips and an after-school programme, kids' party and corporate catering, balloon decoration, gift vouchers and merchandise, and online courses. The About page describes Cookiddoo as the only kids-only cooking studio in west Ottawa. A franchise page invites partners across Canada with a launch playbook, staff training, a tested curriculum, and branding and marketing support.
The site carries hreflang tags for all four languages, LocalBusiness and EducationalOrganization structured data with the studio address and service catalogue, an llms.txt file for AI assistants and a sitemap per language. Enquiry forms ask "How did you find us?", so requests record where the family heard about Cookiddoo. On 12 October 2025 Ottawa Kids, a local family-events site, published a feature on Cookiddoo Studio covering drop-off classes, birthday parties and seasonal workshops.
What we would add now
Lighter pages on mobile
The social preview image is a 1.48 MB PNG; the hero image is a 38 KB WebP. On the homepage, 38 of 76 images are lazy-loaded, and the HTML includes seven forms, popups among them. WebP or AVIF for large images, lazy loading throughout and popups loaded on demand would speed up the first visit on phones. See Corporate website development.
Book and pay in one step
Class and camp bookings run through enquiry forms today; online payment is used for gift vouchers. Booking with live seat availability and checkout would let a parent reserve a place at the moment of decision.
Dated classes as structured data
Current markup describes the business and its services. Event markup for dated master classes and camps, and Course markup for the multi-week course, would show search engines and AI assistants what is on and when. See AI SEO & GEO agency: ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews.
Complete Canadian French
The French homepage is translated. A language review in July 2026 found untranslated French pages and English template blocks in other languages; finishing French across every programme page matters most for Ottawa families. See SEO services in Ottawa: technical and local SEO.
Parent e-mail with consent
A protected sign-up with CASL-compliant consent and automated messages, such as camp registration openings, would keep families in touch between visits. See Marketing strategy that survives the market.
